DISCOVER SHOOTING
FIREARMS and SELF-DEFENSE INSTRUCTION ENROLLMENT FORM

We teach students at all levels of firearms (and self-defense instruction) – from beginners to those who are well-experienced shooters.
Located in Northern Virginia, we primarily serve students who reside in VA, DC, MD, PA and WV, but we also serve students from other states.

General information:
DC and MD require 16 hours of classroom training plus 2 hours of “range related” training, most of which is completed in the classroom plus a range qualification. We have 2 eight hour classes, Part 1 and Part 2, that meet and exceed that requirement. Permit Guidelines:
If you are a Maryland or DC resident, and want to carry in Florida, be aware that as of July 1, 2023 Florida became a constitutional/permitless carry state. After July 1, 2023 you will NOT need a permit to carry concealed in Florida. You can apply for a FL permit if you wish. A FL permit will add reciprocity with New Mexico.
The Part 1 class alone satisfies requirements for a resident Virginia permit.
If you are a DC or MD resident, you DO NOT need a Virginia permit. Virginia recognizes all permits, even if from those states that do not recognize a VA permit. You may, of course, apply for a VA permit if you wish.
Residents of VA, DC and MD will find it useful to obtain a UT permit. The Utah permit adds reciprocity (additional states) to the states you will have reciprocity with based on your resident permit. The Part 1 class satisfies the requirements to obtain a UT permit.
Anyone appllying for a Maryland or DC permit must take both Part 1 & 2 & the range qualification.
MD & DC RENEWALS: If you are renewing a DC or MD permit, please note that in the Message box. Generally a Part 2 class and a range qualification meet and exceed MD and DC renewal requirements.
If you are active duty or former military or law enforcement, you may be exempt from some, or all, of the training requirements for VA, MD and DC permits. Contact us for details.
LEOSA: If you wish to sign up for a LEOSA Range Qualification or Renewal, navigate to the LEOSA page and fill in all of the required fields on that form. On the LEOSA page, tell us when you’re available for a range qualification. We’ll contact you to finalize those details.
